Mechanical General Contractor:  Mid America Air Conditioning
Job Financing:   First of it's kind, a Lease Purchase Plan, put together by Carrier Distribution Credit Corporation (CDCC)

Chillers Located in 7th Floor Mechanical Equipment Room off Parking Garage
No Access to Equipment room except through set of double doors.
Old 400 Ton Chiller had to be dismantled in small pieces and removed from building.
New Chiller's total weight was over 4 times the load limit of the Parking garage structure.

A portion of Parking Garage Collapsed during original construction of building.

New  768 Ton Carrier 19 DR Chiller setting on Parking lot beside the 7 story Parking Garage of Clark Tower.  Chiller had to be separated into 4 pieces and lifted by crane over top of 7 story Parking garage onto the top floor of garage that was supported with temporary bracing from underneath, and wooden pads on floor above to support weight of components.

Assembled the new chiller was approximately 12 ft tall and was brought through this standard set of doors into the 30+ story building's mechanical  room.  There were no preparations to the new chiller made by the Carrier factory to aid in the separation of the components.  Separating consisted of removing each 400 ton centrifugal compressor from the lower evaporator and condenser tube shells by cutting with torches and welding back together inside equipment room.  The Micro Processor based control panel and sensors were also removed in the parking lot at time of separation and re-installed inside equipment room.  It took several weeks to reassemble and weld all components back together.  On completion, Carrier Building Services was called to perform the factory start up.  While we were on site dismantling the old Chiller we rebuilt the two other 400 ton centrifugals.
